This tour is organized with a minimum participation requirement of 20 people. If sufficient participation cannot be achieved, the final cancellation notification date is 20 days before the tour start date. The tour canceled due to insufficient participation will be notified to you through your agency.

You must have a passport valid for 6 months from the end date of travel and not older than 10 years.

HEALTH

There is no vaccination requirement for entry into Sri Lanka. If you have an adventurous eating habit and eat food sold openly on the streets, we definitely recommend consuming only bottled water, avoiding ice, milk and dairy products, eating meat, chicken and fish only when you are sure they are well cooked, making sure fruits and vegetables are well washed, and eating fruits only after peeling them.

OPTIONAL TOURS & ACTIVITIES

Optional tours and activities are organized by the local agency we work with with a minimum participation requirement of 20 people, and participation is not mandatory. If sufficient numbers are not reached, the excursions may not take place, or the prices, content, and vehicle used for optional tours/activities may vary depending on the number of participants. In addition, the days and times of optional tours/activities may be changed by the guide according to the opening/closing status of museums, archaeological sites, or venues at the destinations and weather conditions.

ACCOMMODATION

During periods such as fairs, congresses, concerts, events, sports tournaments, etc., hotels may be used at distances farther than the indicated km.

3-person rooms may be provided depending on hotel availability, and the bed offered to the 3rd person in such rooms may be smaller than standard beds. 3-person rooms consist of 1 large bed and 1 extra bed. Since extra beds are folding or coach beds, participants making reservations for the 3rd person and/or children are deemed to have declared that they accept the possible cramped conditions in the room and the bed type.

Child discounts are valid for only one (1) child staying with 2 adults and matching the age group specified in the pricing section.

Breakfasts taken at the hotel among the services included in the tour program are served in accordance with the breakfast culture of the country, generally with a limited menu called continental breakfast, consisting of butter, jam, bread, tea or coffee, and may be served in a separate hall allocated to the group.

CURRENCY

The currency of Sri Lanka is the Sri Lanka Rupee. It is useful to have US Dollars (USD) with you.

TIME ZONE

There is a +3 hours 30 minutes difference between Sri Lanka and Turkey. When it is 12:00 in Turkey, it is 15:30 in the country.

CLOTHING AND REQUIRED ITEMS

We recommend bringing T-shirts that you can easily put on and take off, short- and long-sleeved shirts, shorts and cotton pants, comfortable walking shoes, and a light jacket for the evenings, as well as beachwear. In addition, you may also bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, earplugs against possible noise, a camera, a video camera, and their chargers and spare memory cards. When entering Buddhist temples in the country, shorts, skirts, clothing that leaves the shoulders exposed, and tight-fitting clothes should be avoided. We recommend that women bring a light shawl or scarf. Also, since shoes and socks are removed when entering such structures, we recommend using shoes and sandals that are easy to put on and take off.

FOOD CULTURE

The country has a cuisine made up of its own spicy dishes. Nevertheless, you can find restaurants serving examples from world cuisines in the hotels where we will stay.

ELECTRICITY

Generally 200-220 V is used. In India, British-style three-pin sockets are used. Two-pin plugs like the ones we use fit many socket types. In places where the sockets do not fit, universal plug adapters sold in electronics stores can be purchased to avoid problems.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Having a valid passport and/or having obtained a visa (for destinations/passports requiring a visa) does not necessarily mean that entry into the country will be granted. The passport police have the authority to deny you entry into the country. The agency is not responsible for this situation; responsibility belongs to the passenger.

The agency is an intermediary between the airline and the passenger and is subject to the Hague Protocol of 28.09.1955. On scheduled and special flights, there may be a risk of delay, or times may change before the current tour and flight. The agency is obliged to notify these changes as soon as possible. Our passengers have purchased the tour knowing and accepting that flight details may change. Children aged 0-2 do not pay field tax and field services fee.

The panoramic city tours included in the tour package are tours organized for general introduction of the cities, lasting at most 2-3 hours, carried out panoramically with guide commentary from inside the vehicle, and not including museum or archaeological site entrances. In the event that panoramic tours, including other tours specified in the program, cannot be carried out because local authorities do not permit visits or entry on the day and time corresponding to the tour, or due to closed roads because of any event, or when the tour becomes impossible due to weather conditions, the agency is not responsible for the inability to conduct the said tours. Some tours may be conducted by public transport or on foot where roads are closed or vehicle entry is not permitted, if possible.

Tour Program

Istanbul - Colombo

We meet at Istanbul Airport International Departures Terminal, complete our ticket, baggage, and passport procedures, and depart for Colombo on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Overnight on board.

Colombo - Pinnawala - Dambulla - Sigiriya

Upon our arrival in Colombo, we proceed to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Here, we have the opportunity to closely observe how the baby and adult elephants under care are fed, their bathing time in the river, and conservation efforts. Afterwards, we head to Dambulla and visit the Dambulla Cave Temples, one of Sri Lanka’s most important sacred sites; we explore the giant Buddha statues preserved within five separate caves, wall paintings, and ancient worship areas dating back to antiquity. After the visits, we transfer to the Sigiriya region and check into our hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Sigiriya - Anuradhapura - Matale - Kandy

After breakfast at the hotel, we check out and set off to climb UNESCO-listed Sigiriya Lion Rock. We experience one of Sri Lanka’s most impressive structures by exploring the ancient kingdom’s palace ruins, famous frescoes, and panoramic views from the summit. Afterwards, we head to Anuradhapura, the country’s first capital; here, with our guide, we visit the sacred Bodhi Tree, giant stupa structures, ancient monastic sites, and thousand-year-old ruins. Later, we stop by the spice gardens in Matale to learn about the cultivation processes of spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. At the end of the day, we arrive in Kandy and check into our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.

Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast at our hotel, we begin our city tour of Kandy. At the Temple of the Tooth, considered Sri Lanka’s holiest shrine, we visit the section where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is kept, and explore the temple complex’s courtyards and ceremonial areas. Then we ascend toward Nuwara Eliya along the mountain road famous for its tea plantations. Along the way, we stop at a tea factory to examine all stages of Sri Lankan tea, from picking to production. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.

Nuwara Eliya - Train Journey - Colombo

After breakfast at the hotel, we will have a short free time in Nuwara Eliya before embarking on a scenic train journey from the region toward Kandy. Passing through tea plantations, valleys, and mountain passes, this route offers some of Sri Lanka’s most delightful views. After disembarking from the train, we continue to Colombo by road. Upon arrival, we check into the hotel. Overnight at our hotel.

Colombo

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our Colombo city tour. We visit the Gangaramaya Temple, one of the country’s most important places of worship, and explore its modern interpretations of Buddhist architecture and temple complex. At the National Museum, we see artifacts from Sri Lanka’s history, objects from the royal period, and cultural collections. The Town Hall, Galle Face seafront road, and the city’s colonial districts are toured panoramically. In the afternoon, there is free time for shopping and exploration. Overnight at our hotel.

Colombo - Negombo

After breakfast at the hotel, we head to Negombo and visit the city’s famous fish market, where we observe the activity of fishing boats freshly arrived from the Indian Ocean. The ruins of the fort dating back to the Dutch period and the old churches in the city are among the places to be seen. Afterwards, we give free time to relax and enjoy on Negombo beach. Overnight at our hotel.

Negombo - Colombo - Istanbul

Early in the morning, after vacating the rooms, we transfer to Colombo Airport (breakfast will be provided as a packed meal). After passport and check-in procedures, we board our flight to Istanbul. Upon our arrival in Istanbul at midday local time, our tour comes to an end.
